Open Registration For DEM’s Popular ‘Come Clam With Me’ Workshops

Hosted by DEM’s Aquatic Resource Education program, The Come Clam with Me events offer families of all ages an opportunity to explore Rhode Island’s beautiful coastline while learning how to find and harvest hardshell clams. Longtime commercial quahogger Jody King will lead the classes sharing his love for the resource. Sessions include an informational lecture, a hands-on opportunity to try clamming, and a cooking demonstration. The workshops will be held at the following times and locations this year:

  • July 19, 11 AM – 2 PM at Colt State Park, Bristol
  • July 22, 1 – 4 PM at Rocky Point, Warwick
  • August 5, 1 – 4 PM at Gull Cove, Portsmouth
  • August 20, 12 – 3 PM at Rocky Point, Warwick • September 20, 2 – 5 PM in North Kingstown

Register now, as space is limited and participants must register in advance. To register, please complete the registration form which can be found by following the link at the end of this press release, and send it to the address listed on the form along with a check/money order made out to the ‘ARE Program.’ The fee is $10.00/person for those ages 8 and older. Once the registration materials are received, you will be sent a confirmation email and information sheet with directions and recommended items to bring. EMAILED REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OR USED AS PLACEHOLDERS. Participants are only allowed to attend one session per year.
