Late-May and all of June have been very striper-centric for anglers across New England. With amazing bites firing up in western Long Island Sound, off Newport, RI, in the Canal and all the way up to southern Maine, everyone has been getting in on the action! But it hasn’t been only stripers. We’ve been getting regular freshwater images from anglers hunting trout and bass. The porgy bite has been quickly gaining speed along with other summertime bottom fishing mainstays: sea bass and fluke. Mark Alimena caught this 40-inch striper chunking bunker off Stamford, CT.Thomas Stevens and Cody Palmentero boarded the Black Hawk with their Boy Scout troop and had a blast putting the screws to the local porgy population. The Black Hawk specializes in getting groups of kids hooked on fishing!We heard that Zeke Fournier is a big fan of our weekly Fishing Forecast videos on YouTube, and we just wanted to make sure that Zeke knew that we are big fans of his as well.
