The City Island based Island Current Fleet has added yet another vessel to its fleet of five open and charter boats. The ISLAND CURRENT EXPRESS is a 65 footer and is USCG certified for 101 passengers. The boat was completely refinished in June of 2012. It was purchased in Plymouth, MA and brought to Charlie Harts shipyard in West Sayville. She is equipped with twin Detroit Diesels producing 1000 hp. The boat has amazing night lighting for both inshore and offshore fisheries.
The ISLAND CURRENT EXPRESS is licensed for 100 miles and will operate out of its home port of Jack’s Bait & Tackle in City Island, as well as Snug Harbor, RI, where it will target fall tautog, winter cod, night squid fishing and doormat fluke. The boat has been sailing private charters of 30 to 60 anglers and has also served as an open boat when needed.
