NJ/DE Bay Region Fishing Forecast – June 27, 2024

Back in the early 2000s this would’ve been primetime for jumbo Jersey stripers like the one featured here in our video fishing forecast (that’s a Tyman fish by the way caught earlier this week).  As we head into the final weekend of June, there are still a few jumbos in the mix, but we kick off this week’s half-hour segment with a quick look at the weekend weather forecast while running through the July edition of The Fisherman Magazine out this week in local newsstands and tackle shops.  Lighten up for your summer surf sessions while chasing fluke and bluefish in Open Boat, just be on the lookout for other summer visitors as well like bonito, houndfish and sheepshead (the South Jersey sheepshead bite is on fire).  New Jersey’s one-fish bag for black sea bass returns on Monday, but folks crossing state boundaries by boat must adhere to that state’s regulations, where you are and where you’re going (or returning).  George has your freshwater update from the Pocono’s, and we spend the final 9 minutes of this week’s report talking fisheries politics, including a pending vote in New Jersey on speckled trout regulations, and a congressional debate on Capitol Hill today with saltwater anglers at the forefront (or perhaps the crosshairs).
